Emerging disciplinary voices

While referencing is an important feature of academic writing, many students struggle with using sources. This seems to be due, in part, the tension experience when advised cite sources (i.e., others’ voices) on one hand, and demonstrate their own disciplinary voice other hand. The aim this article contribute understanding source use, presenting a figure that illustrates gradients students’ engagement various sections bachelor’s theses. Based Bakhtin’s idea writer’s gradually emerges out words, terms knowledge telling transforming, we developed continuum might help understand complexity use. We arrived at through qualitative exploration use 15 theses from humanities Norwegian university.
